|Join me in my efforts to support Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic!|
|Hey everyone! Welcome! THIRD TIMES A CHARM. By now most of you know how near and dear to my heart this organization is. By now most of you know that being a wish granter is my second favorite role in life, next to being an aunt. But what most of your don't know is my personal connection to Make-A-Wish, Mid-Atlantic. Forewarning, this isn't one of those super happy stories, and I am not intending it to be but I promise theres a glimmer of hope. Bear with me, you'll see it. In 2006, one of my best friends, and team mates was diagnosed with brain cancer. It was hands down one of the hardest experiences in my life. She was so young, and I was young and trying to figure out why life worked this way. One minute we were talking about swim meets, and proms and her half shaven eye brow, and the next minute cancer was taking over her body. Prior to her passing, she was granted the wish of going to Hawaii. Beaches, thats what she loved the most. And she got to experience the heck out of it. I remember her telling us about it, and showing us pictures. But most importantly I remember that smile, that smile that I had missed for so long, because it had been exchanged with fear, and pain. That smile is forever engrained in my head, a memory that I cherish so much. You see being a wish granter I have learned and seen first hand how much a wish impacts these families, but selfishly I also get to see that same smile that my dear friend once had. These memories these kids and families get to make, the normalcy they get to experience in the chaos of treatment, doctor's appointments, and the unknown, it's why I keep coming. To see these smiles and to play my part in helping those smiles shine so incredibly bright. Please join me in playing a part of it all. I promise you no donation is too small. |
In September, I will be participating in the Trailblaze Challenge benefiting Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic. In just one amazing day, I will be trekking across the terrain of the Catoctin Trail in Western Maryland, a 26.6 mile journey. The goal is to complete this challenge in one day, rain or shine, while raising $ for Make-A-Wish.
